Welcome to Kaleen Probus Club Inc

The Kaleen Probus Club started in March 2019 with the aim to promote the Probus Ethos of fellowship, friendship and fun through regular gatherings for semi retired and retired people in Kaleen and the surrounding community. Meeting new people, making new friends and discovering new interests are some of the advantages of joining our club. We are non-political and non-sectarian and do not raise funds for charity. By September 2019 our membership has grown to 52 with members ranging from 56 to 84 years of age.

Joining our club

Membership is open to both men and women. To give you a good sense of what to expect when you join our club you are welcome to attend a total of three of our club meetings and/or activities as a visitor before being required to join.

There is a one-off joining fee of $30 and an annual membership fee of $50. The annual fee covers such things as a capitation fee to our national body, Probus South Pacific Limited, insurance coverage during club activities and outings, and copies of the bi‑monthly Probus Active Retiree magazine. Annual membership fees are payable in March however if you join part way through the year the membership fee is pro-rated.

All members receive an induction pack which contains a name badge, Membership Card, Medical Card and information about the Probus Travel insurance and member benefits. Members are encouraged to wear their name badge at all meetings and club activities/outings, and to complete the Medical Card and carry it in their wallet at all times.

Our meetings

We meet at 10:30am on the second Thursday of each month at the Sports Club Kaleen, 16 Georgina Crescent, Kaleen. Once general business is finished there is time to enjoy catching up with other members at morning tea before listening to our guest speaker.

Special Events

Club members celebrate Christmas with a special luncheon instead of a meeting, and  the club’s birthday in March each year.

Outings and activities

Our club holds a number of regular activities and organises various excursions and outings for members, ranging from tours of local attractions and day trips to surrounding regions. In our first 6 months we went on trips to Junee and the Southern Highlands where members visited a number of local attractions. Members and visitors attending outings are asked to complete a Registration Form for Outings and/or Tours that includes details for an emergency contact. Members are also encouraged to complete and carry the Probus Medical Card in their wallet.

Other Activities

We have a Games and Cards, Book and Media, and a Walking group.  A number of outings to concerts have also been organised. We anticipate that further groups will be formed as our membership grows.
