ABOUT US
The Hallidays Point Combined Probus Club will reach its twentieth year in May 2023, but this milestobe was celebrated on 7th March. 2020-21 was a difficult time for the club, during which the coronavirus hit the region and club meetings and activities were subsequently curtailed until the threat of the virus declined.
Membership of the club in March 2020 was 97 members, which reduced as the year progressed to 83 in March 2021, 69 in March 2022 and 64 in March 2023, with members drawn mostly from the Hallidays Point area. Average meeting attendance hovers around the 65% mark. Hallidays Point is home to the Halliday Shores Retirement Village, many residents of which are members of the club.
Meetings are held monthly at Black Head Surf Lifesaving Club, 9.45 for 10am, 1st Tuesday of the month except January (no meeting).
Members are entertained and enlightened with guest speakers at monthly meetings. See Guest Speakers page for list of past guest speakers and Meetings page for details of guest speaker for next meeting.
In earlier times, club activities have embraced a diners’ club, book club, walkers’ club and music club. A very active choir, formed soon after the club began operating in 2003, was discontinued in July 2019. Day trips and extended tours can be arranged through local tour operators. Caravan/motor home/camper adventures have also been arranged in the past, with car only members staying in cabins.
