Yarra Valley Wineries Tour
Our Special Outing, on 24 March, was to three wineries and a chocolate outlet in the Yarra Valley. Fourteen members and friends attended on the day and enjoyed the day greatly,
particularly the wine and gin tasting and took the opportunity to add something to their home cellar. The day concluded with a visit to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, Yarra Glen, where everyone stocked up on chocolates for Easter and beyond!
Walk to Westerfolds Park,Templestowe
On Wednesday 19th April a number of intrepid members went on a quite lengthy – approximately 7km walk that traversed some quite steep patches - commencing at the carpark at Finns Reserve in Templestowe. This was just after some heavy rain so the River(Yarra) was flowing very quickly and heavily laden with silt etc. We then followed the course of the river before moving some distance away from it.
Members were delighted to see large numbers of kangaroos just lazing about in the sun. They were not bothered by our presence but watched us with interest. We then went to the Manor House – an upmarket name for a farm house -that was part of the dairy farm that Westerfolds Park once was where various community members have established a native garden centred around local flora. We finished up with an enjoyable light lunch at the Templestowe Hotel.
