Our Members travelled by comfortable coach to the Zoo, stopping at the State Rose Gardens for a delicious morning tea provided by the driver. He then too us to the Zoo, by which time the sun was shining and the place was buzzing,we w although we could still comfortably walk around to see the animals. A highlight of the day was the safari bus tour of the open range where the animcals roam in their natural environment. We were impressed to learn of the breeding and research programmes underaken by the Zoo. The lions were eating their chunks of meat in full view, while the three female hippos were sleeping on the shores of their lagoon. Of course the buffalo were content to roam on their range!
