Learning the history of Mundaring
06 Mar 2013
The Men's Probus Club of Booragoon recently visited the historic Mundaring Weir Pumping Station and the associated Mundaring Hotel.
Following morning tea at the pumping station, members received an absorbing talk from a volunteer from the National Trust on the history of the pumping station and its designing engineer C.Y. O'Connor.
A delicious roast lunch was then enjoyed at the historic Mundaring Hotel. The existing owner, Mr Jans Jorgenson bought the hotel in 1984 and is now the longest serving licensee since inception.
During our coach journey, the group participated in a sing-a-long led by Vic Logan with his banjo mandolin and supported by Harold Arnold on his mouth organ.
