A golden getaway to Kalgoorlie

Eaton Combined Probus Club recently enjoyed an action-packed getaway to Kalgoorlie.

The tour begun with the group wearing protective gear as they went a small way into the Gwalia Mine Super Pit which is known as Australia’s deepest underground gold mine.

The group did see real gold, although it was in the vault of the Boulder Museum. They visited several museums during their stay and each reflected the lifestyle of the early prospectors.

Lunch was enjoyed on the veranda once occupied by Herbert Hoover, former US President, when he was mine manager at the Sons of Gwalia mine.

After a fun four days, the group headed back to Perth on the Prospector train.
