The Wall in the Wilderness

Twenty-two members, spouses and friends from Riverside Men's Probus Club travelled to the Central Highlands.
The group had a comfort stop at Miena on the edge of The Great Lake and lunch at the Derwent Bridge Hotel. Derwent Bridge is the source of the Derwent River that graces Hobart.
The Wall in the Wilderness masterpiece was created by Greg Duncan over a period of 10 years with small chisels that were necessary because of the intricacy of the carvings.
The carvings tell the story of Tasmania's highlands from the early days, including the vast amount of work done on the Hydro Electric dams and installations. It is an evolving work that also encapsulates Tasmania's iconic timber, Huon Pine.
