In early June this year, Bill & Shirley Foster of The Probus Club of Hobart Macquarie achieved 60 Years of marriage together and celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, a very significant “nuptial milestone.”
Bill & Shirley are long time very active and popular members of Hobart Macquarie. They were Foundation Members when it was established 2001 and have been members ever since; Shirley was the Clubs first Treasurer.
Last year Shirley was Club President and handed the reigns to husband Bill this year. Perhaps this is unique in “Probus Circles” to have foundation husband and wife members form a “Vice President – President - Immediate Past President Team ” in sequential years; 2015- 2016.
Also, it is noteworthy that husband & wife Probians, who are continuous foundation members of a Probus Club that celebrates a 15 years anniversary, celebrate 60 years of marriage, and the Probus Organisation celebrates 40 years in Australia, all in the same year 2016.”
