Walking, talking and retiring

Longtime member of Attadale Probus Club, Denys Craig, has been awarded lifetime membership.

He, along with his wife Marie, joined the club more than 27 years ago and have been actively involved ever since. Denys was President in 1994, but one of his greatest contributions was his development of a walking group, which he started with Marie in 2003. Dubbed “Walkie-Talkie”, the group soon became central to the social fabric of the club. As the name suggests, members used routes designed by Denys to explore rural and metropolitan areas while talking to fellow Probus members. The walks always began with tea and coffee, and ended with a picnic lunch where members could reflect on the exciting events of the day.

Denys and Marie recently announced that they will be ending the Walkie-Talkie group with one of their famous Christmas-time lunches, and members are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to thank Denys and Marie for their years of service.
