Kurranulla Probus travel to Harrington Waters and Hunter Valley Gardens

Recently, 36 Kurranulla’s Probus Club members boarded their “On Course Coach and headed from Cronulla on another exciting tour, this time to Harrington Waters, Port Macquarie, Forster/Tuncurry and the Hunter Valley Gardens at Polkobin.
First stop was a cruise luncheon looking for Dolphins on Port Stevens, (many were seen) then up to Harrington Waters Resort for 2 days visiting coastal Towns up to Port Macquarie, a truly beautiful area of the Mid North Coast of NSW.
The Coach driver, Dave certainly entertained all with his knowledge, not only the history of many towns in this area, but also his ability to find quite secluded and scenic areas to enjoy morning teas and impressive lunches (with non-alcoholic and wines of course). Dave also went to the trouble (after a hard days driving) of preparing a Champagne, Wine, Cheese pre dinner function so all could discuss the day’s events.
From Harrington Waters the group then headed down to the Myall lakes area of Forster and Tuncurry when the Women were let loose to satisfy their shopping urge, whilst this was happening, Dave (the Coach Driver) quietly headed off purchasing local seafood for picnic lunch beside a quite area of the Myall Lake, what an experience.
After rounding up touring members after their exotic luncheon we headed off to the Hunter Valley to tour the Christmas Lights in the Hunter Valley Gardens at Polkobin, staying nearby.
The Christmas Lights are a must see, fantastic themes and light presentations.
Next day all visited the Hunter Valley gardens to experience the gardens in daytime, being escorted around in trains with commentary of the gardens history from a thought by Bill and Thelma Roche to what the Gardens are today, with many gardeners looking after thousands of shrubs and trees, including themed gardens, a truly memorable visit.
A somewhat tired group, then headed down through Newcastle’ suburbs, stopping at Lake Macquarie Yacht Club to force down a very nice 2 course luncheon over looking the Lake, before heading back to Cronulla completing a very memorable touring experience.

One long term member an ex-President stated “That is one of the best tours he has undertaken” and he has undertaken many.
