A nostalgic trip to Strathlachlan
21 May 2025
Rolleston Central Probus Club recently travelled to Doyleston to visit Strathlachlan.
The Club was greeted by their host, Deborah, whose great grandfather had built the solid brick house in 1882. The house had been a home for the surrounding farm for several generations but unfortunately was no match for the Canterbury earthquakes in 2011.
Deborah and her partner Andrew decided that they would restore the family home back to its original splendour. After a lot of hard work and help from family they have finally achieved their goal.
After a tour of the restored stables and granary, members were treated to high tea which included profiteroles, savouries and delicious cakes followed by pieces of fruit.
