Three more people have been charged with alleged involvement in the Boston Marathon bombing. In other news, an Australian is being held on terror charges in Saudi Arabia as his mother claims his innocence.
Three more people charged
Three friends of bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have been charged for trying to cover his tracks. Two students from Kazakhstan and a third US citizen allegedly threw out fireworks and a laptop before lying to police. ABC News has more.
Earthquake shakes Geelong
A magnitude-3 earthquake shook Geelong last night, with residents within a 23-kilometre radius feeling the tremor. No property damage was recorded and the epicentre is believed to be near Leopold. Read more.
Body found beside road
A body has been found in vacant land in Carrum Downs in Melbourne’s southeast. The homicide squad has been called to investigate however details remain sketchy regarding the person’s identification and what lead police to the body. Read more and watch the video on Seven News.
Australian on terror charges
A Perth man is facing terror charges in Saudi Arabia after being arrested in 2011. A laptop in his possession allegedly had terrorist material on it. Shayden Jamil Thorne’s mother insists he is innocent and is pleading for help from the Australian Government. Read more.
Death toll likely to reach 500
The death toll from the Bangladesh building collapse officially stands at 405 but 149 people remain missing as bulldozers and cranes work to remove the rubble. The Pope has condemned the use of ‘slave labour’ in the clothing industry. Ninemsn.com.au has more.
Five year old kills sister with rifle
A five-year-old boy has shot his sister to death with a rifle he was given as a gift. The children’s mother was at home but had stepped out for a few minutes to the front porch. The family says they didn’t realise a bullet was left in it. Seven News has more.
