Cooler weather to bring relief
Cool weather in NSW will bring relief for fire fighters today as they continue to fight a large blaze at Winmalee in the lower Blue Mountains. Some Winmalee residents returned home yesterday to survey the damage. Meanwhile, a heatwave is expected to hit Queensland today with forecasters saying parts of the region could top 40 degrees Celsius. ABC News has more.
Protests in Catalonia challenging the government
Hundreds of thousands of people have formed a human chain across Catalonia, challenging the Spanish government for independence. The human chain reached 400 kilometres from Pyrenees in the north through Barcelona and to the border of Valencia in the south. Read more.
