Nearly nine years ago a stalwart member of the Booragoon Men's Club, Barry Blaikie, was instrumental in introducing what would prove an outstanding social success story for the club.
Barry formed card groups of six couples each which meet once a month in members’ homes to play a Canasta-based game we refer to as 'American Canasta'.
The games have become so popular that we now have five groups who meet on different days, both evening and daytime, and the activity has now spread to several other clubs in WA who have all benefited from the idea.
In recent times, Barry has had to restrict some of his activities but in March he and his lovely wife Betty hosted our original card group members for an enjoyable and memorable evening at their home.
