Obama wins backing for military action 

US President Barak Obama has won backing from key figures in Congress for a limited strike against Syria, for the use of chemical weapons against civilians. Obama has assured congressional leaders that a strike will not mean another long war like Iraq or Afghanistan. ABC News has the details.

2Day FM has phone records

Australian radio network Austereo claims it made four phone calls to Jacintha Saldanha for permission to air the phone call that allegedly promoted the nurse’s suicide. Saldanha was the nurse who originally put the prank phone call through from the two radio hosts, just days before she took her own life. News.com.au has more.

Climate change will dissolve coral

A recent study has found that climate change will have a devastating effect on coral reefs, with coral dissolving rapidly when exposed to warmer and more acidic water. This will have implications on the role of coral reefs, such as the Great Barrier Reef, in providing a habitat for thousands of species. Read more.

Skyscraper melting cars and starting fires

A London Skyscraper, known as the Walkie Talkie, has been blamed for starting fires at neighbouring businesses as well as melting parts of cars parked on the street. Buckingham Palace to host football match

In a royal first, Buckingham Palace, the London residence of the Queen, will host its first football match, honouring the Football Association’s 150th anniversary. FA President, Prince William, had a large role in organising the match which will feature two of England’s oldest amateur clubs compete. Read more.
