In accordance with their internal agreement, Julia Gillard will not contest her seat at the next election, triggering an landslide of senior departures. Deputy leader has been named as Anthony Albanese. A new election date is likely, with Rudd anticipated to call it for the end of August. Dead mum in the freezer

A woman who was unable to say goodbye to her dead mother has put her in the freezer for a week. Police went to the house in the Netherlands after a family friend of the woman called to disclose the whereabouts of the body. The daughter immediately confessed. Read more.
