In Bob We Trust
14 Oct 2013
For 40 years, Father Bob Maguire, a Paul Harris Fellow, fought to protect the poor and disadvantaged of his community. Even those who were not Catholic themselves. He knows everyone who passes in and out of his Church by name.
After 50 years of service, he was ‘invited’ to retire. He declined.
In Bob We Trust follows Father Bob’s story. Following a post as army chaplain, Father Bob was sent to a working class Parish in South Melbourne with the promise that he was there for life. For thirty years, he fought to bring change to the lives of the disadvantaged community.
Willing to be outspoken on all sorts of issues, Bob was seen to be giving the hierarchy a bit of pain and grief. The film follows Father Bob as he weathers disciplinary measures from the Catholic Church hierarchy due to his actions.
Described as a “bristling, enlightening, inspiring journey” In Bob We Trust is an entertaining, at times funny and at times sad, depiction of a man helping those in need and refusing to go down without a fight.
