Photographic Competition winners announced
18 Feb 2013
The winners of the Probus National Photographic Competition 2012-13 were announced on Saturday night at a gala dinner in Sydney.
From hundreds of entries on the theme active retirees, the judging panel chose seven finalists who were all invited to Sydney to attend the dinner.
After welcoming the finalists, their partners, PSPL staff and competition sponsors, PSPL Chairman Margaret Robinson announced the winner: Christine Alexander from Eden Probus Club Inc, whose photo ‘Boardriding is so easy’ depicted three of her fellow members Valma, Celia and Margaret riding boogie boards on Cocora beach.
Accepting the award and an $18,000 Mediterranean cruise courtesy of Cruise Traveller, Voyages to Antiquity and PSPL, Christine spoke of her excitement ahead of her first overseas adventure. "I just got a passport for the first time in my life to go to New Zealand with my daughter,” she said. "I didn't think this would happen."
The celebrations continued well into the night with the announcements of second and third prizes, and entertainment from El Duende Flamenco.
Congratulations to everyone who entered the Probus National Photographic Competition 2012-13, especially the winners and finalists, and thanks to sponsors Cruise Traveller, Voyages to Antiquity, Grand Pacific Tours, Trade Travel and Golden Chain Motor Inns.
