Australia is going to Brazil following the Socceroos qualification for the 2014 World Cup. In international news, more than 60 people have been confirmed dead following monsoon rains in India.
Bound for Rio
The Australian Socceroos fought right through to the dying minutes of last night’s qualifier to take home a 1-0 win over Iraq and automatic qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Australian coach Holger Osieck held his substitutions close, keeping winning goal-scorer Josh Kennedy sidelined until after the 80th minute. Inquest into nurse murders wraps up
An inquest into the murders of two Sydney nurses in Queensland will wrap up as a final witness talks today. Wendy Evans and Lorraine Wilson were hitchhiking from Brisbane when they disappeared. Their bodies were found two years later in bushland. ABC News has more.
Bayley to learn fate
Adrian Ernest Bayley will learn his fate today as his sentencing hearing gets underway. Bayley has been charged for the rape and murder of Melbourne woman Jill Meagher as the prosecution fights for Bayley to be jailed for life, claiming he never should have been free in the first place. Read more.
New labelling system identifying ‘green’ items
A new labelling standard will be released today, identifying environmentally friendly toiletries and cosmetics. Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) says the standard covers toiletry and personal care products. GECA will oversee the certification of the standard. Seven News has more.

A network of roadways and canals have been found under Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple complex. Airborne laser technology assisted the discovery of the urban landscape. Read more.
Dolphin dies in China due to tourist abuse
A dolphin has died in China as a result of being hoisted out of the water by tourists taking a photograph. The incident has provoked outrage online. It is believed the dolphin collided with a fishing boat before becoming stranded. Instead of trying to help the animal, a crowd of tourists posed with it for photographs. Dozens killed by monsoon floods
At least 64 people have been confirmed dead and tens of thousands have been left stranded after monsoon rains in India caused mass flooding and landslides. The Himalayan state of Uttarakhand was the worst hit. The Indian Air Force has scrambled helicopters to reinforce the rescue mission. Read more.
