Kenya’s president has announced that the Westgate shopping mall siege is over. More than 67 people have been killed. President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a live television address to the nation that the nation was brave, unite and strong during the situation. ABC News has more.

Army incompetence results in deaths

Three Australian soldiers killed by a rogue Afghan soldier did not receive adequate protection, according to a Defence report. The report, due to be released on Thursday, claims the platoon was not able to respond quickly enough when the shots were fired. Seven News has the full story.

Earthquake creates new island
