Queen Elizabeth II has signed a charter aimed to protect democracy, the rule of law, international security and free speech across all Commonwealth countries. The charter also contains commitments to deal with discrimination. ABC News has more.

The latest Newspoll has revealed Labor and Prime Minister Julia Gillard have received a jump in voter support. The poll shows Gillard regaining a lead over Abbott as preferred PM however experts say Labor still has a long way to go before the federal election. Read more.

Cricketers stood down ahead of third test
