Celebrations at Probus Club of Gunnamatta
12 Sep 2016
A marvellous day of reminiscing, entertainment and celebrations was had by the Probus Club of Gunnamatta on Monday 20 June at Summer Salt Restaurant at Elouera Beach. The rain cleared and the panoramic view of the ocean provided a wonderful backdrop for the day’s proceedings.
President, Brian Loomes, presided over the day’s agenda with his usual professionalism. It is a fine achievement for a Probus Club to have been going for 20 years, especially when over 25 foundation members are still active in the club and attended the anniversary lunch. Each of these members was presented with a special Foundation Member Badge which they can wear with pride.
The lunch was attended by 125 members who were each given a booklet “A Twenty Year History” which noted the origins of the club and its continuing achievements.
A delicious meal was served and the restaurant staff were most attentive and obliging. The cutting of the special anniversary fruit cake was ably performed by George Birdsall and Dorothy Silva, who were both celebrating birthdays on the day. Entertainer, Kristy Lee, gave a fabulous performance. Her vocals were amazing – everything from Elvis to Pavarotti and Tina Turner to Streisand – thoroughly enjoyable.
Brian Havilah and the members of the Organising Committee did a wonderful job which ensured that everything ran smoothly. The attention to detail ensured that every person who attended had a wonderful time. The Probus Club of Gunnamatta looks forward to many more special events, fun and friendship. Their meetings are held at Sharkies Cronulla Club on the third Monday of every month at 10.30am.
