Search mission expanded to Australia
Australia will take control of the southern Indian Ocean section of the massive search for missing flight MH370. The co-pilot has been confirmed as the last person to speak to air traffic control with the words, “all right, good night”. The search will occur in daylight and an Australian Defence Force aircraft will be relocated from the Cocos Islands to Perth for the operation. Read more.
Fashion designer L’Wren Scott found dead
Fashion designer and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, L’Wren Scott, has been found dead in her New York apartment. Scott is believed to have committed suicide. There was no sign of foul play and no note was left. The death leaves the Australian leg of the Rolling Stones tour in doubt. News.com.au has more.
Two Fat Ladies chef dead at 66
British celebrity chef, Clarissa Dickson Wright, of Two Fat Ladies fame has died at the age of 66. Wright shot to fame with Jennifer Paterson in the 1990s with their television show that was often seen as a backlash to the health police. She died in a hospital on Saturday. Read more.
Serenity for people with dementia
Experts have found a way to bring serenity to people living with dementia using gaming technology. Alzheimer’s Australia Victoria have teamed up with Opaque Multimedia to create virtual experiences that people can enjoy at home or in care centres. Their first project is a virtual forest. Discovery backs Big Bang
Waves of gravity that rippled through space right after the Big Bang have been detected in a landmark discovery. The waves support the theory of a rapid growth spurt 14 billion years ago and have been described as the first tremors of the Big Bang. Read more.
