Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is still yet to decide his new frontbench following the departure of several ministers after the leadership spill. Rudd wants to shift the policy around climate change and asylum seekers and is also tipped to change the election date. Australia is likely to go to the polls sooner rather than later. Pregnant woman recovering from stabbing

A pregnant woman who was stabbed in the chest and ankle at her Como hair salon is recovering in hospital and says her baby boy is safe. Her mother was fatally stabbed in the incident. Selina Bello thanked people for their support. The West has more.

Pilot praised for landing

A Virgin Australia pilot has been praised for landing flight VA1384 after the plane lost fuel. The pilot declared a fuel emergency and has been praised for landing the plane despite fog obscuring his vision until 25m above ground. Read the full story on Nine News.

Pipes did not conform to design specifications

According to The Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the engine on flight QF32 blew up mid-air over Indonesia in 2010 because the oil feed pipes did not conform to design specifications. The information was released in the third and final report by the watchdog into the accident. News.com.au has more.

Obama refuses to hunt for Snowden

US President Barak Obama says he will not start scrambling jets to extradite former spy agency contractor and leak Edward Snowden. When asked whether he had called Chinese President Xi Jinping or Russian President Vladimir Putin, Obama said he shouldn’t have to and extraditing Snowden is a routine matter for law enforcement. Boston Marathon bombing suspect charged

Dzhohkhar Tsarnaev has been charged with killing four people and using homemade bombs at the Boston Marathon. A grand jury indicted Tsarnaev for 30 criminal counts, including murder and using a weapon of mass destruction. Seventeen of the charges carry the death penalty. Read more
