With 88 per cent of Australians over the age of 16 members of loyalty programs, it’s clear the Australian public love some get for their give. Here are the top five loyalty programs that it pays to be a member of.

Coles Flybuys

Flybuys is Australia’s most popular loyalty program. Earn points when you spend at some of the largest household names including Coles, Target, First Choice Liquor, Liquorland, Kmart, Best Western hotels and many more.

The number of points you can accumulate differs according to which company you are shopping with. However, the method is the same – just hand over your Flybuys card for the shop assistant to swipe and earn away.

To apply for a Flybuys card, head to the website and sign up. Your card will be sent to you in the mail and you’ll then have to activate it online. It’s a very simple process. Once your card is activated, just swipe away to accumulate as many points as possible.

The website has categorised all rewards so it’s easier for you to find what you would like to claim. It also tells you how many points you need in order to claim a particular item. 

Woolworths Everyday Rewards

The Woolworths Everyday Rewards card gives you the opportunity to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points and petrol vouchers to save you money on fuel. The rewards offered are also based on the way you shop, depending on where you scan your card. Offers include exclusive deals from Dan Murphy’s, Big W, BWS and Cellarmasters. Plus, there are several competitions offered throughout the year so there’s always the chance to win.

To join, just head to the Woolworths Everyday Rewards website and click ‘Join Now’, link the card to your Qantas Frequent Flyer card and off you go.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

Becoming a Qantas Frequent Flyer member can secure you plenty of benefits. Once you’re on the Qantas website, just head to the Frequent Flyer section.

There is a one-off joining fee of $82.50 for Australian residents and NZ$50 for New Zealand residents.

Earning points is quite simple really. Whenever you fly on Qantas, you earn points according to how far you travel. Earning on the ground is just as easy; just link your credit card to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. You can also earn points by shopping with Qantas partners such as Woolworths, Big W and BWS.

Using your points isn’t restricted to flights. Qantas Store has hundreds of products and deals you can put your points towards.

Virgin Velocity

Like the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, the Virgin Velocity program provides loads of benefits. Sign up on the Velocity Rewards website and head to Program Benefits. In the drop-down menu, select Join Now. You receive points for every Virgin flight you travel on, as well as partner flights.

On the ground, you can link some credit cards to the Velocity program. You can also earn points by shopping at Virgin partners, including Westfield Online.

The points you earn can be used in several different ways. Upgrade your flight, hire cars, shop online with the Velocity Rewards Store or donate to a charity.

Myer One

Make your shopping experience at Myer even better by signing up for Myer One. Earn rewards just for shopping and become one of the first to know about special offers, latest fashions and newest products.

You receive two shopping credits for every dollar you spend. When you earn 2000 credits, a $20 Myer One Reward Card will be sent to you in the mail.

There’s even a Myer One app so you don’t have to carry another card around.

You can also earn Myer One points at Caltex or Star Mart, at IGA and by flying with Air New Zealand.
