Canberra Lakes Ladies Probus Club embarked on a trip to the National Arboretum in Canberra. Their day began with a delightful lunch at the award-winning Village Centre, offering breathtaking views before their guided bus tour. Their knowledgeable guide expertly pointed out the diverse tree species, including some classified as endangered. She also explained the fascinating irrigation system, highlighting the use of sensors to monitor watering needs and the underground storage tanks supplying water to each section.
The group then ascended to the highest points, where the spectacular vistas were further enhanced by captivating artworks. These included "The Eagle and its Nest," a sculpture crafted from repurposed farm equipment, and a weathered steel display featuring the iconic words from Dorothea Mackellar's poem, "Wide Brown Land."
