Croc known to locals
Locals in Dhaniya, east of Darwin, know the crocodile that is suspected of snatching a nine-year-old boy while he was swimming with friends. This was the second crocodile attack in just over two weeks, with a seven-year-old girl taken while swimming with other children and adults at another local watering hole. Read more.
Collapsed tunnel in Japan

Dobell Prize winner announced
At the ripe age of 73, Melbourne artist Gareth Sansom has been announced as the Dobell Prize winner by the Art Gallery of NSW. Gareth produced a suite of 20 drawings in ink, lead pencil, graphite, coloured watercolour pencil, felt tipped pen, ball point pen, egg tempera, earth and collage titled Made in Wadeye.
