PAWA 30th Birthday
26 Sep 2014
The Probus Association of Western Australia (PAWA) celebrated its 30th anniversary on 11 September.
More than 100 Probians from 34 clubs enjoyed fun, friendship and fellowship in Mandurah, WA (75km south of Perth). Some members travelled long distances and stayed overnight. PAWA was honoured to welcome Peter Carroll, Chairman of Probus South Pacific Limited (PSPL) to the West. Prior to lunch, many members took to the water for an hour-long cruise of the canals and waterways, while others stayed on terra firma and went on guided walks. For the less mobile, a quiz was organised. It was a most enjoyable occasion and an opportunity to showcase Mandurah.
On return from the various activities, lunch was served followed by the semi-annual General Meeting. An important part of the proceedings, in addition to receiving the 30th anniversary certificate, was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between PSPL and PAWA. This mutually beneficial agreement will provide PAWA with assistance from PSPL for the future advancement of Probus in WA.
The afternoon concluded with lively entertainment by Nearly Famous playing popular songs from the ‘60s. New friendships were formed and old friendships renewed in typical Probian style before our final farewells.
