The Probus Club of Kirra-Tugun Queensland travelled by bus on Wednesday 14 March  to Brisbane to visit Government House at Paddington where they were warmly greeted by the Governor, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC.

Club members were treated to morning tea and a guided tour of the House, gardens and the car pool. Great interest was shown in viewing a dinner table laid out for an official dinner to be held that night. A little piece of “Downton Abbey”. The Royal Rolls Royce Phantom 6 one of only two of its kind in Australia was also a sight to behold.

President Ken Toogood said the group thoroughly enjoyed the experience of viewing one of Queensland’s iconic buildings which has been the official residence of Queensland Governors since 1910. He strongly recommends other Probus Clubs and Senior Groups to undertake such a visit. Later club members stopped for lunch at The Gap Tavern followed by a breathtaking view from the lookout on Mt Coot-tha. A great day was had by all.
