Victims and their families have said that apologies from Cardinal Pell are meaningless without follow-up. Yesterday, Cardinal Pell, Archbishop of Sydney told an inquiry into child abuse that he was “absolutely sorry” about decades of abuse within the church, admitting that the fear of scandal led to cover ups. Security blueprints stolen by hackers

Chinese hackers have allegedly stolen highly sensitive blueprints of Australia’s spy agency’s headquarters. The documents contain details of the building’s floor plans communications, server locations and security systems. Read more.

Nurse pleads guilty

Nurse Roger Kingsley Dean has pleaded guilty to 11 charges of murder and eight counts of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm as a result of the Quakers Hill Nursing Home fire in November 2011. News.com.au has the full story.

Australian woman drowns in Bali

A Western Australian woman has drowned in Bali after being swept into a storm-water drain. Joanne Randall was walking with her partner in North Kuta when they slipped. Her partner managed to get free and tried to reach Joanne but she was swept away. Yahoo Seven has more details.

Police officers in Curti death may be charged

The police officers involved in the death of Brazilian student, Roberto Laudisio Curti, are facing prosecution after a coronial inquest found the officers used excessive force. The coroner has recommended that five out of the 11 officers be considered for disciplinary charges. Read more.

Bill Pertwee dies at 86

British actor Bill Pertwee, made famous by his role as Warden Hodges in Dad’s Army, has died at age 86. Pertwee was most famous for his catchphrase, “put that light out!” He died early on Monday, surrounded by family and friends. Read more and watch a clip from Dad’s Army below.
