Annual getaway
24 Jan 2013
The East Fremantle Probus Club annual getaway for 2012 was held at the lovely Avalon Homestead in Toodyay.
As usual, the group took their own cars to cut costs. Each day for outings, everybody hopped in the cars and carpooled.
There is a surprising amount of interesting things to do at Toodyay including the historical side of it. The group heard all about Moondyne Joe and his amazing escapes.
Members visited an emu farm and an alpaca farm where the owner processes the fleeces for herself and others.
The local Bushfire Brigade put on a lavish morning tea for the Probus members and they saw the engines and radio room.
Crafts were bought at The Old Post Office and other outlets and there was an air of pride around the little town.
Peter and Delveen, the hosts, supplied all meals and the group had full use of the premises.
The getaways are a great way to mix. This particular one was so close to home, and the group felt like they had discovered another WA treasure.
