OUR HISTORY
The Vision
In December 1984, Rotarians Howard Webber and Bill Miller arranged for a letter to be written to Dr Reg. Nielson, President of the Rotary Club of Redcliffe City, suggesting a Public Meeting be held to gauge interest in the formation of a second Probus Club on the Redcliffe Peninsula. Twenty four people attended the Public Meeting held on the 17thJanuary 1985 and those present decided to form a Probus Club and to hold the Inaugural Meeting on 26thFebruary.
Our Club is Formed
At that meeting a Constitution was adopted and a Committee of nine elected under the Chairman-ship of Patrick Breadhauer who was to become our first President. Bill Miller was elected Foundation Secretary. Twenty four prospective members attended that meeting and so began the Club which has provided so much friendship and companionship all those years ago and continues to provide it today.
Ladies Invited to Join
We have always been a very successful and progressive Club – In line with Rotary Policy of the time we were established as a Mens Club and continued in that vein until 2013 when we opted to become a Combined Probus Clubwelcoming Lady Members for the first time. This has brought an increase in our current membership with ladies now comprising the majority of our membership.
