Probus Club of Nelson City

About us

We have a long history in Nelson which dates back to before 1990. The Nelson Ladies Probus Club and the Probus Club of Nelson - a men's club - operated independently for many years until the decision was taken to amalgamate to form the current club in 2007.

Probus clubs are non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit making and non-fundraising.  Each club provides regular opportunities for retired and semi-retired people, to keep their minds active, expand their interests and to enjoy Friendship, Fun and Fellowship.

The Probus Club of Nelson City is open to both women and men, with membership limited to 125.  Expression of interest in joining the club can be made at any time.

The club holds a monthly general meeting at the Nelson Golf Club. This meeting is usually held on the second Thursday of each month from February to November. Our Annual General Meeting is held in March each year

VISITORS ARE WELCOME AT THE MONTHLY MEETING.  Please contact our Secretary prior to coming along.

There is plenty of parking at the Nelson Golf Club.  

Members are kept informed of trips and future events at our monthly meetings and via a regular monthly newsletter.

Monthly Meetings 

Members start to arrive after 9:30 AM and socialise before the meeting begins at 10 AM.

At most meetings we have a guest speaker who delivers an address on a topic of interest.
