Guest Speaker for March 2025

Michael Kemp, Member for Oxley, will join us to discuss keeping safe in the local area.

Michael Kemp was born in Kempsey to a sixth generation farming family and has lived in Oxley most of his life. He is well aware of the need to keep our members safe in the current spree of youth crime and home invasions impact the Macleay region.

Past speakers

Our guest speaker for November was Darrell Crilley who is a welfare coordinator for Kempsey RSL. Darrell spoke about the various war memorials around the Macleay region that pay respect to members of the Macleay community who gave their life for their country during wars. He spoke about memorials in Crescent Head, Gladstone, South West Rocks, Stuarts Point, Frederickton, Euroka and Willawarrin. Thank you Darrell for your thought provoking discussion.

Our three-minute talk was given by Marjorie who provided snippets of her life spent in Robertson in the Southern Highlands, and various other regional towns including Baradine, Wauchope to commencing nursing training at Kempsey District Hospital.

 

Our guest speaker for October was Nola Turnbull from the Compassionate Care Group.  Nola spoke about her life growing up in the region and her careers from nursing to aged care consultant. Nola is the author of the book Hawking Tales: My journey trekking outback Australia with my mother. She kindly provided our members with a signed copy of her book.
