 1992

  • Alan Ward (Rotary) convened a meeting at the Aspley Bowls Club on the 25th February 1992 to discuss a Chermside Probus Club formation
  • First Club meeting was held on 28th April 1992
  • 80 Probus Clubs from around Australia and New Zealand attended Friendship Day hosted by the Gold Coast clubs at Cascade Gardens
  • Major trip-Stanthorpe
  • Club held a combined Christmas Party with the Wavell Probus Club.

1993

  • Club was incorporated on 29th January 1993
  • Meeting venue changed to Geebung/Zillmere RSL Club in September 1993
  • Major trip-Stanthorpe and O’Reilly’s Rainforest Resort
  • Walking group began

1994

  • Life Membership bestowed on Inaugural President Les Wyer
  • Trip to Cleveland and Science Centre
  • Ten pin bowling commenced
  • Major trip-Fraser Island
  • Christmas party at Virginia Golf Club

1995

  • Joined the Probus Association of Queensland
  • Major trip-South West Rocks
  • Bill McNamara got a “hole-in-one” at his regular golf day
  • Trips to Boonah, Beenleigh and Bay Cruise

1996

  • Knitters made many squares to sew together for “Wraps with Love” which were then sent to PSPL, for distribution to needy people all over the world.
  • Major trip-Happy Valley Resort, Stanthorpe
  • President Esme Keily introduced the Lucky Number Prize for members attending Meetings

1997

  • Major trip-Coffs Harbour
  • Tom Packer received the Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship Award
  • “Candlelight Supper With Hyacinth” at Emmanuel mansions, Enoggera

1998

  • Muriel Amies and Alex Anderson each received Lilley Australia Day Awards in recognition of their service to the community
  • Major trip-Bundaberg and Hervey Bay

1999

  • Received a grant from Gaming Machine Benefits Fund to purchase a laptop computer
  • Brisbane Bus Line provided a bus with an elevator to assist wheelchair bound members
  • Major trip-Glen Innes

2000

  • Amberley trip
  • Major trip-Dalby. Visited the Miles Historical Village, Bunya Mountains and toured a cattle sale and a piggery!
  • PAQ Friendship Day at Doomben Racecourse
  • Day trips to South Stradbroke Island and Mooloolaba River Cruise

2001

  • Major trip-Toowoomba /Stanthorpe
  • Day trips to Kingston Butter Factory, Mt Cotton Rainforest Gardens and Buderim Ginger Factory

2002

  • 10th Anniversary Dinner – Bob Gillespie from Queensland Probus and Doug Morton from Chermside Rotary were guests
  • Major trip-Ritz Rail (South)
  • Alex Anderson received the honour of being named “Grandfather of the Year”
  • Volunteered on the Prince Charles Hospital Ice Cream Stall at the EKKA for the next 11 years

2003            

  • New plastic Name Badges introduced
  • Chermside Probus Club banner purchased
  • Graham Kelly donated a Bell for use at meetings
  • Annual Trivia Quiz began
  • Major trip-Blue Mountains
  • November 2003 there were 2,121 Probus Clubs in Australia and New Zealand

2004

  • Obtained a State Government Grant to purchase a Public Address System for use at meetings
  • Major trip-Forster / Tuncurry
  • PAQ Friendship Day at Caloundra

2005

  • Dawn Horrocks has her book ‘Dad’s Wish’ published
  • Brisbane Bus Lines donated a Digital Camera to our club
  • Major trip-Capricorn Coast / Great Keppel Island
  • All members on the 6 day trip to Capricorn Coast received a Chermside Probus Cap or Sun Visor

2006  

  • Hosted Ecumenical Service at St Stephen’s Cathedral

2007

  • 15th Anniversary Luncheon at Chermside Bowls Club. Special Guest was inaugural President Les Wyer
  • Morag Hutton has Children’s Book ‘Dangerous Exodus’ published
  • Gwladys Doyle is recognised as an Artist & Jewellery maker in local newspaper
  • Mary Lakey recognised for her efforts in raising funds for ovarian cancer research
  • State MP, Bonny Barry Volunteer Awards presented to 1) Keith Forsyth for Coaching Under-Achievers in Mathematics at Aspley High School; 2) Ern & Ailsa Martin for 10 years service as Convenors of Arts & Crafts Show at Aspley Uniting Church.
  • Sweepstakes commenced by Ted Mantell          
  • Club purchased a lapel microphone for use by Guest Speakers

2008

  • Life Membership awarded to Club Auditor, Kel Clarkson
  • President John Lakey presented Neville Carnegie with an ‘Outstanding Service Award’ in recognition of his 20 years contribution to Probus
  • Lenore Robinson had her short stories ‘An Airport Rendezvous’ and ‘Thoughts of Rescue’ published in the Probus magazine
  • Visit to Strathgordon Clydesdales at Woodford
  • Major trip-Tilt Train to Mackay / Airlie Beach
  • Christmas hamper donations to the Salvation Army for the next 5 years

2009

  • Jack and Shirl O’Brien celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in August
