Our Club was established in 2019 with our initial meetings being at Lake Macquarie Yacht Club. There seemed to be a demand for a Combined Probus Club as both the Ladies’ and Mens’ Clubs were popular, but they didn’t allow for couples to join in the fun together.

Unfortunately, Covid hit the very next year, and our activities became limited. However, we set up a system of phone messages between committee and members to check on how people were managing, and, as soon as we were able to, we restarted activities with outdoor events and get togethers. Due to Covid, our Committee remained the same over the first two and a half years and 2022 is the first year of a new Committee.

We moved our meeting place to Windale/Gateshead Bowing Club during this time, and this has been very successful. Members often stay on for lunch at the Bistro after the meeting. The Bowling Club supplies morning tea for a nominal fee and we all contribute. We have a Lucky Door Prize Draw at each meeting which is also a bit of fun. We’ve had some very interesting and entertaining Guest Speakers over the years, including Ed Tonks and Scott Bevan.
