Sail away
18 Aug 2015
Recently, 14 members of the Euroa Combined Probus Club of Victoria travelled by car to Cobram, where we climbed aboard the Cobba paddle steamer.
It was a sunny day and we enjoyed the scenery along the Murray River interstate to NSW, while having a light lunch onboard.
Our captain gave interesting commentaries on the trip. He explained that when travelling the waterways, if the paddles break, it is a warning serious damage could take place. The paddles can be replaced at a reasonable cost but if the actual wheel is damaged, the cost would be around $10,000.
The captain works five days a week and does four trips up and down the Murray River a day. The paddle steamer runs seven days a week and in holiday periods, so it is very busy.
All our members enjoyed this trip very much.
