Queensland’s Attorney-General will appeal the sentence of Brett Peter Cowan for the murder of Daniel Morcombe. AG Jarrod Mleijie says the non-parole period is manifestly inadequate and not in line with community expectations. He also believes the non-parole period of 20 years will not act as a deterrent. Chaos breaks out at media centre
Chaos has broken out at the media centre for missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370. Family members of the Chinese nationals on board protested against Malaysian authorities, following a press conference where it was revealed files were deleted from a flight simulator of the pilot of the missing plane. Swedish serial killer released
A Swedish serial killer has been released from psychiatric detention with all charges cleared. Sture Bergwall is long believed to be Sweden’s most notorious serial killer after confessing to dozens of murders in the early 1990s. He was convicted to life imprisonment and held in a psychiatric ward. Read more.

British detectives are investigating a man who sexually abused five girls during break-ins at holiday homes, hoping to find out more information about the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal. Dog sold for $2 million
In what could be the most expensive dog sale ever, a Tibetan mastiff puppy has been sold in China for almost $2 million. A property developer allegedly spent 12 million Yuan for the one-year-old golden-haired mastiff at a luxury pet fair. Read more.
