Friends in high places

There has been great interaction between the Probus Club of Darwin and our Patron, His Honour The Honourable John Hardy OAM, Administrator of the Northern Territory and Mrs Marie Hardy over the past few months.

At our June meeting, His Honour and Mrs Hardy visited our Club as our guests. His Honour participated in the meeting, speaking about his involvement in the aviation industry of the Northern Territory and entertaining members with anecdotes of his experiences over many years.  

His Honour and Mrs Hardy then reciprocated, inviting our Club members to Government House for our August meeting. We met in the beautiful drawing room, where portraits of previous Administrators and Indigenous artworks grace the walls.

During the meeting, His Honour spoke about the history of Government House. He then very ably assisted with the induction of six new members into our club. After the business meeting, we were provided with a delicious morning tea out on the verandah of Government House. 

Staff then showed our members the beautiful Government House residence and wonderful gardens.
