PROBUS 40TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
01 Sep 2016
On June 22nd eight Probus Clubs and 209 Probians celebrated the 40th Birthday of Probus in style with a truly delightful luncheon. This massive celebration was held at the Lakeside Banquet and Conference Centre and was organised by the Probus Clubs of Keilor East, Keilor, Taylors Lakes and had attendees from Niddrie Ladies, Avondale Heights, Bacchus Marsh, Deer Park and Werribee/ Wyndham.
The entertainment was from The Melbournaires Harmony Chorus, a choir of 20 male voices who sing unaccompanied. They were a smash hit with the audience and many attendees indicated they were ideally suited for the occasion. The cost was $45 per head which included a 2 course meal, after anti-pasta, and all drinks excluding spirits.
As the occasion was in the middle of winter, the Birthday celebration was also named the “Winter Solstice” and the Taylors Lakes Club had made a “Stone Henge” to walk through when entering the premises.
The occasion was such a success the participating Clubs are suggesting this could be a yearly event as a “Christmas in July”. This will be explored by the Multi Club Committee at a later date.
The comment by RDPC Peter Milburn was “I have been to many Probus social functions and this one was great, possibly the best I have attended”. The photographs demonstrate what Fun, Friendship and Fellowship really mean to a group of enthusiastic Probians.
