Visit to the pilot station
05 Dec 2013
The Gerroa Combined Probus Club travelled to Crookhaven Heads Culburra for a very informative tour of the Pilot Station at the mouth of the Crookhaven River on the south coast of NSW.
On a sunny calm morning, 32 members made the journey south and enjoyed morning tea in the spacious grounds with good views of the river and stunning scenery.
This was followed by an explanation of how the pilot station made a large contribution to the safety of all boats that travelled through the heads to open ocean by volunteer members of the Coast Guard.
After the tour the group enjoyed lunch together at the local bowling club before making the trip home.
A fantastic time was had by all.
