Croydon Park Probus visit Bright
26 Jun 2024
In March, Probus members from Croydon Park, Ringwood Clocktower, Maroondah, Ringwood East Ladies, Montrose, and Kerrimuir joined together on a 5-day trip to Bright.
Members from these clubs stayed in the Bright Chalet, which has been in the O’Sullivan family since the 1980’s. They certainly gave them first-class service. The food was great and the staff were excellent.
One night, members were given an impromptu Brass Band concert by the owner Michael and his staff. He was accompanied by his 16-month-old granddaughter. The following week they entered a Brass Band competition in Adelaide, coming in 2nd for their performance.
It was quite hot as autumn was not quite in its full beauty, but despite this, they had a great time visiting various places of interest.
Viewing the bronze sculptures in Tavare Park, seeing Bonegilla migrant camp where one of their group found a photographs of herself and family, which she had never seen before. She also saw other items from when she came to Australia as a 4-year-old with her parents, plus found the cabin that she shared with other migrants. It was such a nostalgic experience for her.
Visits to the Red Stag Deer and Emu farm, Milawa cheeses and adjoining Wood Park wines, the organic Pumpkin Seed farm, and shopping in Beechworth and Bright made this such an unforgettable tour.
Anne, from the Croydon Park Probus Club, said it was well worth a visit to this wonderful part of Victoria.
