Splendour in the grass

In February the Probus Club of Tea Tree Gully had their annual “Picnic in the Park”.

Once again the location selected was the Thorndon Park Reservoir. The park is in a wonderful setting with lawns and surrounding trees but we set up our tables and chairs under the large covered pavilion, protected from the sun so that members could enjoy the day.

The weather was perfect when 19 Probus members attended for lunch, although 28 members said they would be coming, and members snacked on cakes, biscuits, and watermelon.

There was plenty of conversation to be had, and attendees agreed that the picnic was a wonderful way to catch up with members who they hadn’t been able to meet at monthly meetings.

After lunch, eight members went for a walk around the reservoir but had to make a detour, as an area of the planned walk was blocked off, so it was a climb up a hill to get on another path.

On the walk, attendees saw ducks and birdlife and commented that it was wonderful to see so much activity in the wetlands.

At rround 2.30 the group were all packed up after an enjoyable day of Friendship, Fellowship, and Fun.
