Retirement living and aged care you can trust

Ryman Healthcare has been building and operating retirement living and aged-care facilities within one village community for 35 years. Its goal is the same, no matter what village you live in. Since Ryman began, the standard has been: it’s got to be good enough for Mum.

Each of Ryman’s villages work to make a positive difference in the daily lives of residents. Ryman achieves this by always putting residents first.

Ryman offers some of the most resident-friendly terms in Australasia.

Security for residents is about more than looking after their physical safety. As Ryman sees it, security also includes having financial certainty. Ryman’s agreement is written in plain language and is easy for everyone to understand. Many retirement living agreements are dense and hard to decipher, causing confusion and unexpected costs when it comes time to leave.

No hidden costs

At Ryman, “no hidden costs” means no waitlist fees, no surprise costs when you move in, and no administration fees. There are also no refurbishment, marketing or on-sale costs when you leave, as these are covered by the deferred management fee that Ryman caps at 20 per cent – one of the lowest in the retirement sector.

Fixed weekly fee

Ryman’s fixed weekly fee provides certainty about your living costs. The weekly fee for independent and assisted living is fixed for life* with no hidden costs.

* Some conditions apply.

“It seemed like a very good financial and secure deal for us. My husband John had had a career in finance, so we looked into it very thoroughly. We could not do better than Ryman.”

Ryman is dedicated to caring for you now and into your future.

Ryman’s villages offer independent living in apartments and assisted living in serviced apartments. If you need more help, Ryman also provides low care, high care, and specialist dementia care.

If your health needs change, you won’t need to move away from your partner or friends. It’s comforting for couples at different stages in their health to know they can be cared for within the same village.

Independent living

Independent living combines the best of both worlds – the freedom to come and go as you please with the security and companionship of the village community.

Ryman’s one, two and three-bedroom apartments are designed with over 65s in mind. The spacious, well-considered layouts include contemporary kitchens and bathrooms designed to make life easy for you.

Serviced apartments

Serviced apartments are located in the heart of the village with easy access to amenities. There are a range of activities and events on offer as well as regular outings to the shops and further afield.

As well as help with daily living, such as housekeeping, you’ll enjoy a Delicious home-cooked main meal in the dining room, and morning and afternoon tea. More services are available, like having breakfast delivered to your room – it's your choice.

All of Ryman’s independent and serviced apartments have air conditioning and heating for year-round comfort, and include call-assist alarms that are monitored 24 hours a day by on-site staff.

Care options

Ryman’s aged-cared centres are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A clinical manager and unit coordinators oversee trained carers and registered nurses in the delivery of your daily care.

  • Low care – Residents receive the very best in clinical care. Ryman creates individualised care plans so that the care you receive is specific to your needs. Private rooms with ensuites are spacious with a selection of room layouts to choose from.
  • High care – This is the best option if you have any chronic health conditions or need full assistance to move around. Care is provided by trained caregivers and registered nurses and is overseen by unit coordinators and a clinical manager.
  • Dementia care – Ryman’s purpose-built dementia care units provide a secure haven in a warm and home-like environment for people with dementia.
  • Respite care Ryman aged-care centres also welcome residents who need respite care.

Delight through experience

Ryman’s friendly village environment makes you feel connected to your neighbours and friends.

Residents can choose from a variety of outings – from lunches and scenic walks to dance performances and musicals. You can travel safely together in the village van with a friendly driver.

Ryman brings life into its villages, so if you’re less mobile, you can still experience a lot of life and a lot of fun.

And if you need help with anything, even to simply change a lightbulb, you can call Ryman’s maintenance staff or housekeepers. They are always on hand to keep the village clean and tidy, and running smoothly. It’s a comfort to know that help is always close at hand.

“The atmosphere in this village is fantastic, it’s something really special.”

Ryman puts residents first, and is always looking at ways to improve resident experience, investing in innovation that directly benefits the daily lives of residents.

Triple A exercise program

Ryman’s Triple A (Ageless, Active and Aware) exercise program encourages residents to keep moving. Catering for all levels of ability, this free program improves strength, balance and mobility.

Ryman developed the program on the belief that you’re never too old – you just have to find the right way to do it. The level of participation is up to you – you can be involved as much as you want. Learn more about Triple A here.

Delicious menus

With input from residents, Ryman developed seasonal menus with delicious recipes made fresh on-site by Ryman in-house chefs. With three main course choices, including a vegetarian option, the aim is to tempt all taste buds. Learn more about Delicious here.

myRyman Care

In every care room, a device with Ryman’s custom-made electronic care program enables nurses and carers to see and record everything they need to know about each resident. This award-winning innovation creates greater efficiencies and reduces paperwork.

In 2019, myRyman was named Innovation of the Year – Care Model at the Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards in Singapore. The award recognises the best care model that improves the quality of life for older people.

Emergency generators

Ryman has emergency generators at every village, which includes serviced apartments, aged-care centres and village centres. Ryman isn’t required to do this, but sees it as a prime example of putting residents first. So, if a power outage occurs, the generators will kick in to keep both residents and staff safe and comfortable.

Ryman thinks the world of its people, and so do residents. Ryman looks after and values its team, and empowers its people to constantly improve the resident experience by offering ongoing training and evolving processes. That care and dedication helps to create the unique experience residents love.

“Everybody’s dedicated to their work – they’re not just workers, they all love their job. If they were in the Olympic Games, they’d all deserve a gold medal.”
