Member given the honour of carrying the Commonwealth Games Queen’s baton

On Sunday, 25th March, one of the members from Fraser Coast - Hervey Bay Combined, Dell York was given the honour of carrying the Commonwealth Games Queen’s baton.
Dell who is eight-five and the proud mother of five children was nominated by the Hervey Bay Sailing Club. Dell is the patron of this club and she and her family have been members since the 1970’s. She has also worked hard for the Wide Bay Hospital Museum which began in 1991. She has held the position of Secretary for twenty-five years.
Dell has been a Probian since 2004, she is member of the National Seniors, and a member of the Fraser Coast Vehicle club. In 2015, Dell was awarded the Order of Australia Association Queensland Senior Volunteer Award for continuing voluntary Community Service. Many of our members, along with family and friends formed a cheer squad for Dell, as she made her way along the seafront. Well done, Dell!
