Bus Trip to Bellingen Markets
14 Apr 2017
On a very warm Saturday morning in February nineteen hardy souls from Probus Oxley boarded a charter bus and headed to Bellingen Markets. These markets are touted as the biggest and best markets in Northern New South Wales, or according to the locals in all of Australia.
Arriving at the entrance to the markets we left the bus to explore this wonderful market. The markets cover a large area with a lot of it under the shade of leafy trees. Much walking was required to explore the many and varied stalls that displayed handmade arts and crafts, plants and flowers (can recommended the roses), clothing, and plenty of local produce plus much, much more.
Those feeling a tad peckish had an array of different foods to tempt the taste buds. However, other members preferred the luxury of relaxing in an air-conditioned restaurant in the nearby town centre.
All too soon we were boarding the bus for the return journey. However, before leaving the town of Bellingen we made a last stop at the Yellow Shed gift shop. The shop offered a variety of items from books to craft and everything in-between. The final stop was for ice-cream or whatever else took your fancy at the Kempsey Highway Service Centre.
Arriving back at the Port City car park a group of tired but happy people alighted from the bus loaded with shopping bags filled with treasures and very happy memories of a fun filled day of friendship and fellowship.
