Slice of history
28 May 2019
A morning visit to a Gold Coast Local Museum was attended by the Broadbeach Ladies Probus Club on the April 23, 2019.
The Gold Coast Historical Society and Museum is set on a historical piece of land and contains a nationally significant collection of the Gold Coast’s early days.
The site itself was an Aboriginal gathering place and, in the late 1800s, a cemetery for local pioneer workers and family.
The Probus Ladies were welcomed by friendly volunteers who provided them with a delicious morning tea before a short talk about the relics of the bygone years housed throughout the museum. Several hours can be spent looking through the many exhibits that depict the early history of the Gold Coast.
The ladies were surprised to find this gem amongst the high rises.
The museum is located in Elliott Street (off Bundall Road), Surfers Paradise, Queensland
