Armchair travellers

Since mid 2012, Probus Taringa has enjoyed an Armchair Traveller program. David Allen, one of the founding members of the club, instigated this.

The activity is supported by the excellent Brisbane City Library facilities at Kenmore.

A special room has a computer and projector with sound which allows presenters to give interesting and entertaining travel experiences.

To date members have sat back and relaxed watching well-presented travel stories of Paris, Lord Howe Island, the Arctic and Antarctica and a European Cruise. All at no cost and with a cuppa, compliments of the Library, supplied.

Another activity saw more than 50 Probians from Taringa, Chapel Hill and Sherwood Clubs spending a most enjoyable day at the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament.

Highlight of the day was the match between Lleyton Hewitt and Denis Istomin where Istomin prevailed in an epic struggle. We also enjoyed watching

Victoria Azarenka play Ksenia Pervak, with a stunning victory to Victoria.

This is the fourth year we have made the Brisbane International the first Probus event of the year and it is always a great time of fellowship for the

clubs concerned.
