Mount Gambier hosts 26th District 9780 Probus Conference

The four Probus Clubs of Mount Gambier (Mount Gambier, Blue Lake, Mount Gambier Ladies and Gambier City Ladies) hosted the two-day District 9780 Probus Conference at Casadio Conference Centre in Mount Gambier at the end of last year.

Following registrations on the Sunday, visitors had the option of selecting one of two tours to either a local winery or to see some of the sights of our city and its surrounding area.

The Sunday night welcome dinner was a happy and enjoyable occasion, with entertainment provided by a female vocal group called Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. This function provided an excellent opportunity for Probus members and their guests to catch up and renew friendships.

Monday’s program commenced with a very professional performance by some members of the Mount Gambier Generations in Jazz Academy, with their presentation concluding with the National Anthem. Mayor Steve Perryman welcomed the gathering, followed by short addresses from current District 9780 Governor Geoff James and District 9780 Probus Chair Dawn Baudinette. Conference guest speakers Dawn Baudinette, Jo Fincham-Hodges and Graham Greenwood  enthralled the audience with their stimulating, challenging and thought-provoking addresses.

The Conference attracted over 250 registrations and concluded with the presentation of the symbolic Conference Tablecloth to Maryborough Probus representatives. When the 2015 District 9780 Probus Conference is held in Maryborough on 11-12 October this year, there will be 27 names on the tablecloth, each representing the location of a Probus Conference held in our district.
