A TRIP TO EUMUNDI MARKETS & A SILENT MOVIE

On Wed 22nd July, members of Redcliffe Inc, together with supporters from Redcliffe Peninsula and Redcliffe Ladies, spent a wonderful day on the Sunshine Coast.

At 8.15am we left a central point in Redcliffe where all day parking was allowed, and headed off to Eumundi, stopping to have morning tea, courteously supplied by Merv from Redcliffe Coaches.

We arrived at Eumundi and spent a few happy hours wandering through an amazing variety of stalls. Members bought lunch from a different places. These markets are well worth the visit.

At 1pm we boarded the coach for our short trip to the Majestic Theatre at Pomona.

Here we watched a very funny 1926 movie “Tramp Tramp Tramp” starring Harry Langdon, where the son of a poverty stricken shoemaker, enters a foot race across America to win $25,000. If he wins he can get the girl of his dreams (Joan Crawford in her first movie), and save his father’s business.

He faces many difficulties which would daunt an ordinary man but he always seems to overcome them, and provide us with belly laughs at the same time Even though he is pitted against professional racers, he succeeds in his quest.

The changing moods of the film are accentuated by the magical accompaniment of Christopher Rose on the organ.

Merv brought us safely back to Redcliffe by 5pm, after a very enjoyable day.

A very big bonus was the fact that the three Probus clubs joined forces to fill the coach. By a joint agreement, a trip will be put on by one club each month, and flyers will be circulated so that all three clubs can take part. This increases our fellowship tremendously. We are also enjoying inter-club visits at meetings.
